Na local government be the level wey your suffering no fit hide. If gutter block, na your street go smell am first. If market dirty, na your food go suffer first.
So when you want rate your chairman, no do am with vibes. Do am with evidence.
1) Drainage and flooding: who dey clear the gutter?
If rain fall and your area turn to mini-lake every time, ask: when last dem desilt? Is it seasonal drama or routine work?
2) Waste and sanitation: do refuse trucks ever show face?
Some places, refuse collection na like NEPA light: unpredictable and emotionally exhausting.
Rate based on frequency, coverage, and whether the environment actually cleaner.
3) Roads and potholes: small repairs matter
We no dey expect expressway from LGA, but patching, grading, culverts and maintenance? That one normal.
4) Markets: the real economy headquarters
Market sanitation, stall organisation, security, and drainage around markets: these things affect prices and health.
5) Primary Health Centres (PHC): are they working?
Not just building. Ask: staff present? drugs available? maternity services? emergency referral?
6) Water points: borehole politics vs actual water
“We commissioned borehole” is not the same as “water dey come out”. Rate what is functional, not what was photographed.
7) Responsiveness: do they pick calls or do press release?
How fast dem respond to outbreaks, flooding, or school issues? This is where leadership shows.
Rate your chairman like you’re writing evidence for your future self — because one day, dem go ask you: ‘How far for our LGA?’ and your rating go answer.
